When it began in September, the nine-part drama, in which cash-strapped competitors play deadly childhood games in the hopes of winning 45.6 billion won ($38 million), became an international hit. Lee Jung Jae, Anupam Tripathi, Oh Yeong-Su, Seong-Ju Yoo, Kim Joo-Ryung, Lee Yo Mi, Park Hae Soo, and others star in the program, which also has actor Gong Yoo in a cameo role.
2. Vincenzo
With the highly anticipated dark comedy-drama ‘Vincenzo,’ Song Joon Ki made his formal comeback. Song Joong Ki played the titular character, an Italian lawyer from Korea who works as consigliere in the Mafia world. He then partnered with lawyer Hong Cha Young against the Babel of Korea after returning to Korea following a confrontation with his previous group. The show created history by being the ninth highest viewed drama in Korean cable television history after winning multiple awards.
3. Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha
According to Neilsen Korea, Dimple actors Shin Min-A and Kim Seon Ho had a great effect on tvN’s romance-drama ‘Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha’, which established the highest ratings of all time. The touching plot is set in the fictitious seaside city of Gongjim, where a dentist and a guy with odd jobs meet. Apart from Kim Seon Ho and Shin Min-dazzling A’s chemistry, the supporting cast, which included Lee Sang-Yi, Gong Min-jeung, Kim Young-ok, Cha Chung-Hwa, Jo Han-Chul, and others, made a significant impact in the critically acclaimed drama.
