Doctor – Nelson Dilipkumar wrote and directed Doctor, which was co-produced by Sivakarthikeyan Productions and KJR Studios. Sivakarthikeyan and Priyanka Arul Mohan play the major parts, with Vinay playing the antagonist, and Arun Alexander, Archana, Deepa, Redin Kingsley, Yogi Babu, and others playing significant supporting roles.
Varun, a doctor who is betrothed to Padmini, is played by Sivakarthikeyan (Priyanka Arul Mohan). Due to unforeseen circumstances, the engagement is called off, and Padmini’s niece Chinnu is abducted on the same day. The rest of the story revolves around Varun’s ability to save her.
Doctor gets off to a shaky start, thanks in part to the way Sivakarthikeyan’s character was created. It’s a huge departure from the man we’ve known for years, and once you get used to it, the film is fantastic. The movie makes you question if Sivakarthikeyan ever smiled during the movie.
He seldom emotes, which adds to the hilarity, and Redin Kingsley is a wonderful foil for him. Without a doubt, each of Redin’s sentences makes you laugh out loud. Nelson has carved out a niche for himself in Tamil film with his brand of black humor.
Laughter is frequently touted as the best medicine. Its usefulness is debatable, but it appears to be the cure to the film’s numerous literary faults. You forgive everything and love the entire movie because of the comedy aspect. The absence of any social message for the audience is one literary decision that succeeds. The picture sets out to entertain, and it succeeds in doing so.
The film does a great job with the casting, with each character holding their own. Yogi Babu, Deepa, Archana, and Redin all offer remarkable performances, and their personalities will be with us for a long time.
In terms of technical aspects, towards an otherwise aesthetically sophisticated picture, the CGI and visual effects in the conclusion might have been better. Vijay Kartik Kannan’s cinematography is excellent. The film contains relatively little words, and the plot is carried forward by Anirudh’s music. In the metro, there is a stunt sequence, and his soundtrack for that moment serves as a taste of his work in this picture.
Overall, Nelson plays to his strengths and creates a frenzy of laughs. It’s commonly argued that a flaw is just a flaw if it can be exploited. In this case, the humor serves as a barrier against the film’s flaws. Nelson and SK have created a picture that is both interesting and enjoyable. Likewise, the former has carved out a niche for himself, making him a filmmaker to watch in the future.
