John Wick Chapter 4 Review:

The “John Wick” series has always been explicit and exact in what it offers, and Chapter 4, often known as JW4, is no exception. It expands on the close-quarters violence and high-octane battle choreography that have become hallmarks of the franchise. Keanu Reeves does what he does best. But JW4 kicks things up a level by introducing a variety of new characters who are all instantly recognizable while also expanding the mythos of the High Table with familiar faces like Laurence Fishburne, Ian McShane, and the late Lance Reddick.

While almost unrecognizable, Scott Adkins is really entertaining as Killa, a plot-chewing antagonist right out of a James Bond film. Donnie Yen’s sleek, precise acting as Caine frequently steals the show, and he should have his own spin-off. Hiroyuki Sanada and Marko Zaror, whose unique approaches are difficult to overlook, are two more legendary martial artists.

Marquis, played by Bill Skarsgard, is a stylish evil guy who begs to be killed in the most horrific manner. He is menacingly proportioned. Shamier Anderson’s enigmatic Mister Nobody and his tenacious canine friend are a wild card in the mix. In her feature film debut, Rina Sawayama introduces several memorable scenes on her own.

Keanu Reeves, whose stoic performance carries the movie, is unwavering in his resolve to upping the ante, and his deeds continue to speak louder than words. Extensively rehearsed battle sequences may be shown in wide frames without frantic cuts thanks to this elite cast.

The results are stunning, with sequences skillfully crafted to frequently make JW4 play out like a live-action video game, thus capturing the tone and feel of this genre. Keanu Reeves and director Chad Stahelski have pushed for better recognition of stunt performance in movies. The amazing stunt performers of JW4 pull off several jaw-dropping feats, showcasing their priceless contribution to the entertainment business.

If the first John Wick movie established Keanu Reeves as a legitimate action star and set the bar for the spectacle of fight-based storytelling, JW4 raises it even higher.

“John Wick: Chapter 4” topped the box office on its opening weekend, earning an incredible $73.5 million. The most recent installment of the action franchise performed better than its predecessor thanks to favorable reviews and strong word-of-mouth. In 2014, the first movie made $14 million in its opening weekend, while the second and third movies took in $30.4 million and $56.8 million, respectively.

“John Wick: Chapter 4” premiered at No. 1 in each of the 71 markets in which it was distributed and brought in a total of $64 million at the international box office. Despite having the highest production cost in the franchise at over $100 million, the movie’s overall earnings to date total $137.5 million.

That was a “superb opening,” according to Entertainment Research, citing the “John Wick” sequels’ outstanding ascent. The R-rated movie had a 2-hour and 49-minute runtime, although it scored an “A” CinemaScore and was largely popular with men (69%) and those over 25 (70%).

According to Lionsgate, just nine series have broken records for opening weekends with their fourth iteration, and only five have seen the box office performance of each new installment rise. The “John Wick” series is an exception, though.

The first movie made $86.1 million, the second brought in $174.3 million, and the third, “Parabellum,” brought in the most money worldwide with $328.3 million. Joseph Drake, the CEO of Lionsgate’s motion picture division, refers to the series as an “anomaly” and suggests that a fifth installment as well as another spinoff are in the works. Apart from “Shazam! Fury of the Gods,” this March was significant at the box office for “Scream,” “Creed,” and opening weekend records in their respective series.

According to box office expert Paul Dergarabedian, March 2023 was an exceptional month for movies. But, “Shazam! Wrath of the Gods” from Warner Bros. and DC is having trouble, with sales plunging by 69% in its second weekend and bringing in only $9.7 million from 4,071 theatres. The third weekend of Paramount’s “Scream VI” brought in $8.4 million, the fourth weekend of Warner Bros.’s “Creed III” brought in $8.36 million, and the third week of Sony’s “65” brought in $3.2 million.

Lionsgate’s “John Wick: Chapter 4” had a great opening weekend, earning $137.5 million internationally, despite several superhero films, including “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania,” having a lackluster results.
